SPINACH DAL

required:spinach-2 bunches, toordal-1 cup,water-2&1/2 cups,onion-1 very small diced,green chillies-2 slit,red chilli pd-1 tsp,turmeric pd-1/4 tsp,tamarind paste-3 tsp,salt-according to taste,oil-1&1/2 tbsp,mustard seeds-1&1/2 tsp,garlic-3 cloves crushed slightly,cumin seeds-1 tsp,curry leaves-1 sprig
method
wash the dal nicely.add water and soak the dal for 30 min in a pressure cooker.meanwhile wash and chop the spinach along with the stems after trimming the ends.later add spinach to the cooker.also add onion,green chillies and cook for 1 whistle.turn off.after pressure goes down open the cooker and heat it up again.tip in red chilli powder,turmeric,salt,tamarind paste and cook for 2 min.mash it nicely.turn off.pour the prepared tempering into the dal.
for tempering:after the oil is heated add mustard seeds and garlic together.when the mustards pop, add cumin seeds and curry leaves.while still hot pour the tempering into the dal.
