take a small ball of tamarind which is slightly bigger than a marble and clean and wash it nicely without any dust or sand and keep it aside.heat a pan with 1/2 tbsp oil.tip in and fry chanadal-1&1/2 tbsp until light brown in colour.now tip in dry red chillies-10-15,curry leaves-3 or 4 sprigs and fry till they change colour.add coconut-1 diced,salt-according to taste,jeera-1 tsp,4-5 cloves of garlic, tamarind.fry for a minute.grind in a mixie with water until soft.serve with dosa,rice or idli.
